Vector GUI

Welcome to VectorGUI

The source of popular software application GUIs re-created in scalable vector format.

Vectors? GUI? What’s all these?

GUI stands for Graphical User Interface and it allows users to interact with electronic devices (including computers of course), with the use of visual controls - icons, indicators and other graphical elements.

Most - if not all - applications have their Graphical User Interface designed and presented in pixel format, which is a natural choice for pixel based medium like computer’s screen. The most significant difference between pixels and vectors is that any design made in a raster (pixel) format cannot be scaled up (enlarged) without a noticeable quality loss. Unlike the raster artwork, a vector one is resolution-independent and thus, it can be presented (printed, displayed, etc) in any size.

GUI in vectors - what for?

All the raster GUIs are working perfectly most of the time. The only issue arises, when a pixel-based design is to be presented in a larger size (printed for example), shown with a greater detail (Flash presentation) and so on.
The original, raster GUI, may appear blurred, jagged and not detailed enough in this situation. And this is where a scalable, vector-based artwork comes to rescue.

Opera 9.5

Here are a few example situations, when you may need your application “front end” to be re-created in vectors:

  • Printing purposes including large scale print
  • Software presentation including promotional materials - brochures, flyers, etc
  • Flash presentations and Flash elements (banners)
  • Projector presentations
  • …and more

What’s for grabs?

Currently there are a few web browsers (including the freshly released Opera 9.5), popular programs and media players available for download. New items will be added to the library, based on application popularity, guests’ feedback and demand. We are open for suggestions, so if you would like to get a particular software GUI in vectors - tell us about it.

And the most exciting part is that all the artwork is available for FREE! The only thing we ask in return is crediting the author.
All the artwork downloaded from VectorGUI has to be used in accordance with the Terms Of Use.

If you would like a custom artwork to be vectorized - our artisits can do it too!

Show off!

If you download any artwork from VectorGUI and find it useful for creating something you are proud of, and would like to share it with others - just let us know. Send us the photos, images, etc., and your piece of artwork will be added to the “Gallery” (to be launched soon).
